Lockers are small storage compartment, usually personalised and found in places like locker rooms, schools, transport centres etc. Gym lockers are the sets of cabinets in a gym provided to the members so that they can easily manage their possessions when they work out and they give them the facility of managing the afterhours. Gym locker rooms are the prime necessity of the members and if not managed properly, they give a thoroughly bad impression. So gym locker rooms should be clean, well lit and should give an aura of comfort.
Gym lockers are of many types depending on various factors. They can be of varying heights, widths and tier arrangements. Primarily, they are equipped with a lock for security purposes. Then, they are intended to be used by individuals for short or long spans of private usage. They are required by them for the safekeeping of their possessions while they work out at gym. They are commonly made up of hard steel but wood, plastics or laminate are the other options depending on the locations because if the environment is humid, the gym lockers are preferably made up of plastic to avoid rusting. Generally, gym lockers are perforated or ventilated for air passage so that they must not smell bad.
Bank size determines the width of the collection of gym lockers. It is not always the number of lockers because the lockers can be divided into tier. Gym lockers may be of full height meaning a single tier, or two tiers, or three tiers depending upon the number of lockers stacked on top of each other. Different types of locking mechanisms are incorporated viz. Padlocks, cam locks, flush locks, latch locks. The more modern mechanisms include coin locks, digital locks and the like. Dimensions are standard, locking points can be one or more than one, colours are traditional and steel thickness varies from 0.8 mm to 1.2 mm.
Gym lockers play a key role in governing the easy procession and success of a gymnasium. Without a decent locker room, the gym’s first impression is ruined. People prefer to be convinced that their prize possessions are behind locked doors and will remain safe, no matter what happens. So, to give them that satisfactory workout span, gym lockers play a crucial role because without them, the gym members will not be able to plan their day according to their gym schedule.
“A gold coin locked in a safe is better than two in your pocket…” Gym lockers exploit the same mind set, because it is the nature’s rule that a man cannot function well without a feeling of safety. A gymnasium full of furtive glances suspicious environment will not be the one anybody wants so having a strong and secure gym locker room is of paramount importance.
